Carrie Sanderson is a wife, mother, attorney, and lifelong South Dakotan with more than 15 years of service to her state. She and her husband, Jared—a fifth-generation South Dakota farmer—are raising their family in Flandreau, grounded in faith, hard work, and service.
Carrie has dedicated her career to strengthening South Dakota communities through practical, community-driven solutions. She is a proud graduate of the University of South Dakota, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts, Master of Public Administration, and Juris Doctor degrees. Carrie has served as a federal prosecutor, civil litigator, and public health leader and in these roles, she managed multimillion-dollar programs and helped shape legislation that protects children and strengthens families. Today, as a small business owner, Carrie works alongside nonprofits across the state to develop solutions that improve lives and expand opportunity.
Carrie leads with common-sense conservative values and a deep commitment to South Dakota families. As a Republican active in the Moody County GOP, she is a strong defender of the Second Amendment and stands behind the men and women of law enforcement.
Carrie’s Christian faith and role as a mother guide everything she does. She believes strong families are the foundation of a strong state and that South Dakota leadership should reflect integrity, compassion, and personal responsibility.
Carrie believes that the best solutions come from the people, not from politicians. She supports local control and trusts the people who live and work in our communities to guide schools, public health, and public safety.
Carrie is pro-life, advocating for community-driven solutions that support mothers, children, and families before and after birth. She believes that being pro-life means standing for human dignity in every season of life.
Carrie proudly supports the men and women who keep South Dakota safe. She will advocate for law enforcement, fight to keep our neighborhoods secure, and ensure South Dakota remains a safe place to raise a family.
Carrie strongly supports the constitutional right to keep and bear arms and believes responsible gun ownership is essential to individual freedom and community safety.
